Events
The Maine Highlands is known for some big annual events, such as the American Folk Festival on Bangor’s waterfront each August and the Seaplane Fly In on Moosehead Lake in September. All year round there are events that take place throughout the region. Agricultural fairs, sporting events, arts & craft shows, historic reenactments, and performing arts are only the beginning of the list of happenings in The Maine Highlands. Hop on a hayride during a Maine Forest & Logging museum’s Living History Days at Leonard’s Mills. Sample the state’s famous Whoopie Pies at the annual Whoopie Pie Festival in Dover-Foxcroft. Enjoy the waterfront concert series in Bangor that has included performers Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, and Jason Mraz. You’ll find something to do here all year round!
